The Difference We Can Make – Brandon Keith
Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in Heaven.”
In order to be that light that Matthew 5:16 states, we must be completely surrendered to God. There are so many people that are bound, struggling, hurting etc… and it’s up to us to be the difference that Jesus called us to be. Some people will never step foot into a church or even read the Bible, but they are however watching us and the moves we make. They will start to notice that there’s something different about you than everyone else around them!
I’ve recently been talking to someone at work; and trying to talk to someone about God one on one can be a bit tough. I’m sure you have been there! Out of nowhere they asked me this, “why are you always so happy when you’re at work?” I replied, “It’s not me; it’s because of God!” Those are the first words that came to my mouth. Jesus makes all the difference!! People are going to notice that there’s something different about you. Make yourself available and let God have his way in your life!
Have you ever been in a place where it felt like God couldn’t use you? I’ve sure been there plenty of times. There’s been times in my life where I told God I’ve messed up too many times and that I couldn’t be used by Him. I felt like a failure! But… I’m always reminded of Peter in the bible. You know the story. He denied Jesus 3 times but Jesus ultimately forgives Him!! Peter then gets filled with the Holy Ghost and preaches on the day of Pentecost. 3,000 souls were added to the kingdom of God because Peter made up his mind that he wanted to be different!
We need to remind ourselves every day that we’re not going to be the greatest singers or preachers; but as long as we make ourselves available to God and follow His commandments, He will make us different from this generation! In Luke 9:23 it says “And he said to them all, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me?” Each day we wake up we need to make it a priority to lift up the name of Jesus and I’ve been guilty of this. There’s been times where I’ve reached for my phone and didn’t even end up reading my bible that day. We must not let distractions affect our walk with God! If you do end up taking up the cross daily and devoting yourself to God, He’s going to take us places we never would’ve dreamed of and we’ll end up reaching souls that we never thought we could’ve. Are you ready to be make the difference God called you to be? Let’s be the generation that shakes the gates of Hell and watch it tremble!
I understand that fear will get in the way; but when God places a calling upon our life, He will cast out the fear that we have! Each day you wake up you have the opportunity to impact somebody’s life. Don’t miss out on that opportunity. God is going to help you, and He’s going to be with you every step of the way!
